Whit Davison is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Kansas City, Missouri. Whit became a mental health therapist to provide care to clients with challenging diagnoses, including complex trauma, borderline personality disorder, persistent suicidality, and anger management. She realized that understanding dissociation can play an important part in working with these clients as well as with clients diagnosed with “traditional” dissociative diagnoses like dissociative identity disorder and depersonalization and derealization. She has specialized in dissociation since 2020, working with clients whose dissociative experiences range from comparatively mild to incapacitating. Whit is a member of the International Society for the Study of Trauma of Dissociation (ISST-D), offers peer consults for colleagues with questions about dissociation, and is developing a series of approved continuing education courses to help clinicians work with these sometimes mystifying disorders.
