Somatic Interventions in Solution Focused Work

CE Hours 2 Somatic Intervention Solution Focused Work Mindfulness

About this course

Somatic Presence in Solution-Focused Work This interactive training explores how somatic awareness and mindful presence can strengthen solution-focused practice. Participants will learn a clear somatic definition of presence and how to apply it in conversations that support change, action, and forward movement. The training introduces key concepts including somatics, mindfulness, and solution-focused work, followed by a brief experiential mindfulness exercise to help participants develop embodied awareness in real time. Participants will explore practical ways to show up as a more mindful and present practitioner, and learn strategies for intentional state shifting that help individuals clarify their next steps, build resilience, and tolerate the discomfort that often accompanies meaningful change. Through discussion, practical tools such as decision maps, and a case example, participants will leave with concrete strategies for integrating somatic presence into their daily practice and supporting clients in moving from awareness to action.

Learning Objectives

  • Define the somatic concept of presence and describe its relationship to mindfulness and embodied awareness in professional helping relationships.
  • Identify at least two ways somatic awareness can support solution-focused conversations and facilitate present-moment engagement with clients.
  • Participate in and reflect on a guided mindfulness-based somatic awareness exercise in order to recognize at least one strategy for cultivating presence in professional interactions.
  • Describe and apply at least one intentional state-shifting strategy that helps clients move from awareness toward action and future-oriented change.
  • Apply a decision-mapping framework to a case example in order to support client decision-making, next-step planning, and integration of present-moment awareness into future goals.
