Mindfulness-based Therapy™: A Transtheoretical and Neurobiologically Informed Approach to Effective Psychotherapy - Lynn Louise Wonders (Clinical Skills Summit: Ethical Healing Innovations - MODULE 5)

CE Hours 2

About this course

The 2-hour online continuing education training, Mindfulness-based Therapy™: A Transtheoretical and Neurobiologically Informed Approach to Effective Psychotherapy, highlights the therapeutic alliance as the cornerstone of effective psychotherapy, strengthened through the therapist’s practice of mindfulness. This training provides mental health professionals with a practical framework for integrating mindfulness into their therapeutic presence, emphasizing its role in fostering trust, attunement, and connection with clients.

Drawing on transtheoretical principles, Mindfulness-based Therapy™ is adaptable across therapeutic modalities, offering versatile tools for diverse client needs. Neurobiological research underscores how mindfulness positively influences brain regions involved in emotional regulation and stress reduction, such as the prefrontal cortex and amygdala. Participants will explore how the therapist’s mindful presence not only enhances their capacity for empathy, patience, and attunement but also helps clients develop emotional balance, self-awareness, and adaptive coping strategies.

The training includes experiential exercises, case examples, and practical interventions that demonstrate the application of mindfulness to strengthen the therapeutic alliance and improve outcomes. Special attention is given to multicultural considerations, ensuring mindfulness practices are integrated sensitively and effectively within various client contexts.

By cultivating their own mindfulness practice, therapists can model emotional regulation and present-centered awareness, creating a safe, connected space for clients to explore and heal. Participants will leave with evidence-based tools to enhance the therapeutic relationship, harness mindfulness for greater clinical effectiveness, and support clients in achieving meaningful, lasting change.
